Weight Loss Journey: How I Lost 110 Lbs In 1 Year

I, Gav, changed my life in early 2020. I lost weight and changed my life as a Men’s Fitness contributor. In one year, I lost 10st (140 pounds).

The scale showed 21st 6lbs, the weight of a young elephant, at the end of 2019. No more. I used my tiny notebook to make lofty five-year goals. My health had plummeted, leaving me unemployed, unhappy, and unmotivated.

Six years ago, I was a fitness enthusiast and self-improver. I was healthy and happy. However, the following years wrecked my physical and emotional health.

I tried to lose weight for special events but struggled with significant social anxiety. I knew I needed to alter because it was a yo-yo diet.

2020, my turning point. I focused on losing weight with unwavering devotion. I was ready for the obstacles ahead.

First was diet change. Goodbye, junk food and processed sugars! I used a calorie deficit to lose weight by eating healthier. Intermittent fasting limited my eating window to eight hours. I naturally ate whole grains, fibre, and water. Protein boosted muscular growth and recuperation.

Exercise was my shelter. I stopped overdoing cardio. I loved moving. I started walking every day for two lovely hours. It relieved stress and burned calories.

I weightlifted six days a week with a balanced push/pull/legs split. Resistance exercise and moderate aerobics helped me burn fat and build muscle.

At the beginning of 2020, I was at a very important point in my life. I realised it was time to take charge of my health and make a big change when I weighed a shocking 21st 6lbs (300 pounds).

My weight was hurting many parts of my life, from how I felt about myself to how happy I was overall. I knew I need to do something is not regular.

This mix of strength training and moderate cardio helped me grow lean muscle mass while burning fat effectively.
