(ICC) International Cricket Council has recently declared list of players for prestigious Player of the Month Title for May 2023. Some of the players on the list are Pakistan’s captain, Babar Azam, and Sri Lanka’s captain, Chamari Athapaththu. Both of these players had great months.
Babar Azam’s Captivating Batting Display
Babar Azam, who currently holds the prestigious Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy, has kept cricket fans all over the world amazed with his amazing hitting skills. In the ODI series against New Zealand, Azam showed off his skills by leading his team to a big win.
He was especially important in the third ODI, where he scored 54 runs, and the next game, where he scored 107 runs from just 117 balls and led Pakistan to a comfortable 102-run win in Karachi. If Azam wins this month, he will be the first player to win ICC Men’s Player of the Month three times.
Athapaththu’s Leadership and Consistency
The captain of Sri Lanka, Chamari Athapaththu, led her team to wins against Bangladesh with great guidance and consistency. Athapaththu’s work was a big part of the team’s victories in both ODI and T20I games.
She showed off how good she was at hitting by scoring 64 runs in the one ODI and getting the important wicket of Bangladesh captain Nigar Sultana. Athapaththu’s consistent efforts at the top of the order were a big part of Sri Lanka’s 2-1 win in the T20I series. She scored 30+ runs three times in a row.
Outstanding Performances Rewarded
Najmul Hossain Shanto of Bangladesh is also up for the ICC Men’s Player of the Month award, along with Babar Azam. Shanto was named Player of the game because of how well he batted during his team’s hard-fought game against Ireland. .
His outstanding 117 runs in 93 balls was the highlight of the game. This was a key part of Bangladesh’s exciting win when they were trying to beat a difficult total of 320 runs.
The ICC Men’s Player of the Month award will go to Harry Tector of Ireland. Tector was in good form for a long time, and the best game of his career was a 140-run game against Bangladesh that had 10 sixes.
Even though Ireland didn’t win the series, Tector’s great showing showed how talented and determined he was.
Harshitha Madavi is up for the ICC Women’s Player of the Month award, along with her fellow Sri Lankan Athapaththu. Sri Lanka’s success was largely due to Madavi’s great work in the short version. She was a big part of the ODI win with 45 runs that she didn’t lose.
After that, she played consistently, getting 125 runs in three T20Is, including unbeaten knocks of 29 and 51.
Thipoatcha Putthawong, a spinner from Thailand who is 19 years old, is the last person up for the ICC Women’s Player of the Month award.
Her amazing bowling skills were a big part of Thailand’s win at the Southeast Asian Games, where she took an amazing 11 wickets in four Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is) with an average of 1.54.
Voting Process and Winner Announcement
The ICC Player of the Month is chosen by the neutral ICC Voting Academy and fans from all over the world. The Voting Academy has 90% of the votes. It is made up of well-known cricket people like journalists, past players, broadcasters, and members of the ICC Hall of Fame.
Fans who have signed up with the ICC can vote for the last 10% through the ICC website.
